Winter and snowshoe hikes
Winter und snowshoe hikes are enjoying increasing popularity and are also great alternatives to skiing and cross-country skiing. Countless cleared winter hiking trails lead through the untouched natural landscape whereas with snowshoeing new vistas open up. Irrespective of which option you go for – get away from the crowds and the stresses and strains of everyday life and experience pure, unadulterated nature!
Whether you are an adult or a kid, whether you are old or young – tobogganing is always heaps of fun! In our region several toboggan runs are available to you – a toboggan run on the 3 km long Kohlschnait natural toboggan run is highly recommended particularly when it is lit up in the evening hours. Before the descent into the valley you can get your strength up in the Kohlschnaithütte Hut. The Maisiflitzer on the Maiskogel “family mountain” provides tobogganing fun both in summer and in winter and even in every kind of weather!
The Hohe Tauern mountain range is just made for ski tours and is a real paradise for all ski mountaineers. Whether you go for a light-weight and easy tour on flat terrain, or attempt routes which run parallel to the piste or go up one of the three-thousanders: ski touring in the National Park is a totally unique experience of nature the high point of which is the descent over virgin slopes. Guided ski tours are also on offer.
Ice-skating & ice stock sport
These are fun and sociable sports: ice-skating and ice stock sport! Do your pirouettes on Lake Zell or gauge your skill and accuracy with ice stocks. For both types of ice sport the Fusch and Zell am See region offers a number of ice rinks and ice stock rinks. In any event winter fun is guaranteed for the whole family!
Horse-drawn sleigh rides
Enveloped in fleecy blankets and warmly dressed, you can savour the dreamy winter landscape on a horse-drawn sleigh ride in Fusch. Whether together with friends, with the whole family or romantically as a couple – a horse-drawn sleigh ride is quite simply an integral part of a winter holiday in Fusch an der Großglocknerstraße, in particular as it is one of the nicest ways of enjoying the winter holiday period.
Many archery courses are open in winter which means that this trendy sport can now also be practised in the cold months of the year. Archery combines experiencing nature, moving around in fresh mountain air and a high degree of concentration – ideal for clearing your head and recharging your batteries.
